MRC North delivers employment and skills development support to assist our clients in securing sustainable employment outcomes.
Jobs in Aged Care and Disability
This program, funded through Skills Tasmania, delivers group support to migrant job seekers. The program is offered up to four times per year and to be considered for a place in a course you must register and attend a pre course interview. Numbers for each course are limited. Level 1 or 2 English will be an advantage to being considered for a place.
During the 13 week program participants will have the opportunity to:
- Identify skills, interests and experience
- Develop a resumé and learn how to apply for a job
- Participate in and practice job interviews
- Practice English proficiency
- Learn about the Australian workplace culture and documentation
- Participate in accredited and non-accredited training
- Participate in workplace tours and
- Be provided with real work placement and experiences.
MRC North delivers one-on-one mentoring to increase the capacity for migrants to gain employment. This assistance may include resumé development, recognition of skills and qualifications, on line applications, job searching skills plus police and other statutory checks.
MRC North has assisted securing employment and work placement opportunities in areas such as horticulture, viticulture, food processing, childcare, bicultural support work, interpreting, and other service industries. As a result, many clients have also participated in accredited training to further their skills in these areas.
Migrant into Self Employment Support
The Migrant Small Business Program, funded through Skills Tasmania, provides intensive support training and mentoring to our clients during the initial stages of establishing a business and developing a business plan.
MRC North has assisted clients who are now self-employed, working as contractors or selling food at markets and festivals.
