The MRC Childcare Centre is a community based long-day care centre offering care for children aged from birth to 5 years. The Centre particularly welcomes children from our humanitarian and migrant families to help in their integration into our Australian community and to raise awareness and tolerance of our multicultural society.
Open from 7.00 – 6.00 Monday to Friday
Licensed to care for 40 children aged from birth to 5 years, this architect designed Centre is bright and spacious, filled with natural light. Parents using the Centre are eligible for Child Care Benefit from Centrelink. The Centre is registered with the National Childcare Accreditation Council.
Owned and operated by the Migrant Resource Centre Northern Tasmania, the Childcare Centre was developed through a partnership between MRC North, the Tasmanian Community Fund, the Education Department and the Department of Transport and Regional Services.
The Centre is located on the site of the old Haig Street Kindergarten, a place where many generations of families have brought their children. We intend to continue the tradition of quality care and parent support in the Northern Suburbs for many more years.
The best outcomes for our children and their families develop from an environment of acceptance and respect. To that end, we strive to meet individual needs in a way that enhances the life prospects for each child, welcoming the rich diversity the world has to offer.
Our emphasis is on the needs of the individual child. We allow each child to develop naturally and be supported by informed decisions about activities and experiences which will enhance their growth. We welcome parent contributions to our programme either through ideas and suggestions or more active hands-on participation.
We have been fortunate in employing a team of enthusiastic carers and support staff. Their combined talents, developed through training and experience, will ensure high quality nurturing care for your child and a warm welcome for you.
If your child requires medication while in care, please hand medication to carer in charge and complete the medication form.
