CALD Family Initiatives
This program, funded under the Australian Government's Stronger Families and Communities Strategy, offers broad based support to families from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds. The program aims to improve family functioning and to help people become confident parents in a new country. Initiatives aim to build community capacity and to facilitate links between CALD families and local services.
The main services we offer are:Services are delivered in sensitive, confidential and culturally appropriate ways.
- Family support and encouragement
- Confidential counselling
- In-home support from the bi-cultural family support worker's
- Mediation to resolve conflict (for example between parents and children, or between couples)
- Advocacy
- Partnership development with a range of local family support services (including help with doctors and lawyers)
- Community capacity building (includes help for families to establish social networks so that help will be available from within their own communities)
- Community education programs on parenting and relationship issues
